Craft
The Craft group meet each week from 10.00 to 12.00pm on Thursday in the Verandah, why not drop in if you are interested is a bit of stitching, knitting or crocheting and of course a chat.

Voci Stupende Concert
Over 85 people enjoyed the Voci Stupende concert in the Club on a cold and wet Sunday afternoon recently.  The Group’s repertoire which included Bizet’s ‘Toreador Song’, Verdi’s ‘Rigoletto’, Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’, Mendelssohn’s ‘Nachtlied’, Lehar’s ‘The Merry Widow’, Bizet’s ‘The Pearl Fishers’, Di Capua’s ‘O Solo Mio’ and Delibes’ ‘Lakme’ had members of the audience humming along.

“In fact, not only were all the melodies such a pleasure to listen to, it was very difficult to just sit still and listen as there were many moments when we wanted to stand up and dance, or sing, or even conduct the rhythmic pieces!” noted one member.

The accompanist displayed an amazing sensitivity to every song and impressed by the way he enriched the melody for each singer.  The Solos, Duets, Trios and the group Recital, as well as the solo segments from the accompanist, gave the audience a wonderful variety of performances that brightened their afternoon.

Tip for the Week
When dealing with shop assistants, remember it is not their fault if the owners don’t employ enough staff for Christmas. Just give them a smile and sympathize with them for being overworked.

Tips for the Season

• Although you can’t come to activities at the Club over the holidays, be sure to keep active – sitting for too long without moving around has been found to be bad for your health.

• Are there any friends you haven’t heard from for a while? Give them a call for Christmas. (And remember men are allowed to use the phone, too, so this doesn’t just apply to women!)

On behalf of the Management Committee, Polly and all the volunteers that help the club run smoothly, I wish you a safe and happy festive season and we look forward to seeing you again in 2014.
