Seniors Week 2015

I hope you have had an opportunity to take advantage of Seniors Week, there are still a few activities on over the weekend, A Walk in the National Arboretum at 10am on Saturday or you can try Croquet at 1pm on Sunday. More information on these activities and others is available here: COTA Seniors Week Program

Woden Seniors held an Open House from 10am to 2pm each day during Seniors Week to give non-members an opportunity to visit the club premises. The response from the community has been warm and appreciative. Thank you to the members that welcomed visitors, provided information about the club, organized morning and afternoon teas and especially to those that baked.

New Car Parking Arrangements

The Management Committee has revised the current car parking policy and adopted new procedures in relation to car parking arrangements at the Club.  The revised policy and procedures are detailed in full at the end of this newsletter and also displayed on the Club notice boards.

The Woden Seniors House Committee

The House Committee is a small group of volunteer members that take an active interest in ensuring that the Club premises are well maintained, tidy and attractive.  Activities range from adding decorative touches through to replenishing the milk, tea and coffee supplies in the Clubrooms.

As you know the Club relies on volunteers to function as we do and a small contribution of your time can be very rewarding.  If you are interested in joining this group please let Polly know.

Seniors Week 2015

Beginner Bridge Lessons
Beginner level Bridge lessons will be commencing at 2.00 pm on Monday 2nd March.  Please contact Margaret Kennedy on 6292 9636 or Polly to register your interest.

Table Tennis
An active and very social group meet to play table tennis at 9.30am on Wednesday and Friday mornings.

Carpet Bowls

If you are looking for a game that is active, strategic and fun then carpet bowls may be for you.  Carpet bowls is on in Hall 2 each Wednesday from 12 noon to 1.30pm.

Car Parking Arrangements at the Club
With reduced public car parking spaces in Woden and the ever-increasing cost, the Seniors Club car park is a very attractive alternative to non-members seeking to avoid paying parking fees.  This has been an ongoing issue over the years, however, more recently we have noticed a more determined band of illegal parkers that are ignoring our efforts to discourage them.   This activity puts pressure on the car park at our busiest times, for example with eleven cars illegally parked in the car park last Wednesday afternoon some members had to pay for alternative car parking.

Consequently, over the coming weeks we will begin wheel-clamping cars that are illegally parked at the Club.  There will be new signs posted at the entrance to the car-park drawing attention to the conditions of entry to the car-park.  Drivers of cars that are wheel clamped will need to contact a security firm to have their car released and pay a fee.

Please ensure that you display your parking permit on the dash of your car when accessing the Club’s facilities.
