CLUB CHRISTMAS LUNCH
A reminder that Monday next, 11 December is the cut-off time to book in for what is promising to be a super duper Christmas Lunch. We are using the same catering as last year which means we can look forward to generous servings of delicious food. We’ll supply some juice, water and our usual tea and coffee, and members are of course welcome to BYO something stronger for some Christmas cheer.
And it’s not too late to drop in your donations of something non-perishable and Christmassy for our hamper/s which will go some lucky lunchers!
END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES
Our various Club groups are celebrating the season in their various ways and in various places and I was delighted to be present for the Wednesday Recorder Orchestra’s final session for the year. Music, friendship and food – what could be nicer.

RUNNING REPAIRS
The little fridge in the Anne Murray Room has been giving trouble, but after being given such expert attention and a new door seal, it should be ready to give good service for a few years yet.

IT’S NICE TO BE APPRECIATED

Looking forward to seeing many of you next Friday – and to taking lots of photos to fill Issue 25/2023 of the Newsletter.

A few final words…
I signed up for a Zoom workout that was too advanced for me.
So when the instructor said to “do a plank, and then bring your knee to the opposite elbow”, I did a modified version where I turned off my computer and made pancakes.
Benefits of a good vocabulary!…
I recently spoke an old engineering friend of mine and asked what he was working on these days.
He replied that he was working on aqua-thermal treatment of ceramics, aluminium and steel under a constrained environment.
I was impressed until, upon further enquiry, I learned that he was washing dishes with hot water under his wife’s supervision.
