Dates to Remember

Monday 9 June – King’s Birthday Public Holiday – Club closed
Wednesday 11 June – Wednesday soup begins.  See below.

    .

SOUP !!  IT’S NOT JUST ON MONDAYS !!

Have you wanted to join in eating soup at the Club, but Mondays are not your day?  Then do I have some news for you!  Beginning on

                             WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK, 11TH JUNE

.

Wednesdays are also soup day.  Many thanks to Kari, soup and homemade bread will be available from around 11.45 onwards for the cost of an activity voucher.  (Cash or voucher welcome.)  The soup is served from the kitchen adjacent to Hall 1, and seating is available in the verandah area.  We have a supply of containers so people can buy any leftover soup (if there is any!) to take home for the same price.

.

Thanks to those who have already offered to help.  Please talk to Sue Allen or to me if you would like to make a soup occasionally on Mondays – or Wednesdays .

OUR CARPARK SAGA

Just to bring you up to date with the matter of keeping our carpark free of illegal parkers – the fourth person to ignore our signs and also the warning attached to their vehicle has had said vehicle towed away.  Thanks to Ron and Sue for their early morning surveillance, we are all enjoying the ease of parking these days.

AN IMPORTANT  SAFETY REMINDER

.

Luckily, an incident requiring evacuation of the Club is not a common occurrence.  There are however a range of possible such incidents ranging from minor to serious, and it is imperative that, until proven otherwise, we assume that if the alarm is activated it is serious.

.

The evacuation diagram below is displayed in all the public areas of the Club but we are all guilty of rarely if ever actually studying it and taking in the details.

.

· Briefly though, the number one reaction to an evacuation alarm MUST be that everyone actually evacuates the building immediately and safely.  The diagram indicates the exit points and obviously your nearest exit is the one to be used.

.

· It is important that activity leaders bring with them the activity attendance record book.

.

· The designated assembly point outside is, as indicated on the map, on the footpath on the corner where Corinna Street makes its 90 degree turn toward Melrose Drive.

.

· The activity attendance record should then be used to check that everyone listed is present.

.

· ACT Fire and Rescue will have received an automatic notification of the evacuation incident and will attend.  No-one should re-enter the building unless or until Fire and Rescue officers advise that it is safe to do so.

.

The above information is provided in the interest of us having as many members after an incident as there were beforehand.!!
