SOUP DAYS STARTING ![]()
![]()
Starting again on Monday 15th June, home-made soup and bread will be available each Monday until September. The cost is $7 or a voucher, and as in previous years, all proceeds from soup days go to providing the food and other delights at our Christmas lunch.
If there is soup remaining at the end of lunch time, we have some takeaway containers available!!
SAUSAGE ROLLS
The first of a series of sausage roll days this week – yumm yumm! Thanks Kari for this initiative – watch this space for the date for the next
sausage roll day. At just $5.00 each these home-made delights are an absolute bargain.
CAN YOU HELP?
Our kitchen team are looking to source a food mixer – on a stand, not hand-held – to keep at the Club for whipping cream, mixing cakes etc. Do you have a Mixmaster or Kenwood or similar food mixer you no longer need and would be willing to donate?
Please let Polly know if you can help.
EYE HEALTH FOR OLDER DRIVERS
Separately from our Lunch and Learn series, Dr. Jerome Ha, a Canberra ophthalmologist, is willing to provide a session on eye health and driving.
This is proposed for Saturday morning 25th July and will include morning tea.
Because this is outside normal Club hours, we are seeking expressions of interest from members who would like to attend.
Please let Polly know if you would be interested!

MEMBER CONTRIBUTION
Thanks to one of our members for the following wise words.
Certainty and Clarity
Many of us are considering future living options – to stay at home, to “right”-size, to live with children or relatives.
Here is what is certain: almost nothing – we rarely know exactly what will happen.
But here is what can provide clarity: working out your options, and the pros and cons of each. Getting clarity can ease financial and emotional pressures for you and your family. It is important to get clarity about costs of staying at home, costs of moving if that is what you might want to do, where you want to live, ongoing costs, your potential support needs and what they will cost, having a contingency for emergencies, and what is becoming an increasingly talked about issue – loneliness. At the root of these considerations is how long you might live for and how your retirement income (whether pension or superannuation or other income) sustains you over time.
There is no age limit to thinking about these things. And it is never too late to plan to get clarity.

An oldie but a goodie…
The Computer Swallowed Grandma
The computer swallowed Grandma.
Yes, honestly, it’s true!
She pressed ‘control’ and ‘enter’
And disappeared from view.
It devoured her completely,
The thought just makes me squirm.
She must have caught a virus,
Or been eaten by a worm.
I’ve searched through the recycle bin,
And files of every kind;
I’ve even used the internet
But nothing did I find.
In desperation, I asked Jeeves
My searches to refine.
The reply from him was negative,
Not a thing was found online.
So, if inside your inbox
My Grandma you should find,
Please ‘copy’, ‘scan’, and ‘paste’ her
In an email back to me.
