WODEN SENIORS AGM
Thanks to all those members who filled the room for the Club’s Annual General Meeting last week, your support and interest is greatly appreciated.
The following were elected to serve on the Club’s Management Committee for the 2023-24 year:
President: Jenny Gregory
Vice-President: Maureen Bourne
Secretary: Chris Mckay
Treasurer: Jennifer Pratten
Committee: Catharine Masters
Grahame Cheers
Cindy McMillan
Jennifer Battisson
Gail Guiliano
If you were not able to attend but would like to see any of the paperwork (Audited Financial Statements, President’s Report, etc..) from the AGM, Polly has copies in the office for you.
Also at the meeting, by unanimous vote, Judy Henderson was admitted to Honorary Life membership of Woden Seniors in recognition of many years of outstanding service and contribution to the Club. Congratulations Judy!
Earlier this year the Committee decided that our Honorary Life members should receive a token memento in recognition of their status. Judy and the two other ‘Lifers’ who were present at the meeting – Sue Allen and Gail Guiliano – were presented with theirs. Gail also accepted her husband Santo’s plaque on his behalf. Members will know that we have one other Life Member in Anne Murray who is also to receive a plaque. Many thanks to the Weston Creek Mens’ Shed for making these for us.
Life Members – Judy Henderson, Sue Allen and Gail Guiliano
COTA PRESENTATIONS
A reminder that COTA ACT will provide three information sessions/presentations for us during October.
The first of these will be held on Thursday 5th October from 10.00am to 12 noon in Hall 1. The topic for this session is COTA’s Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme – please see the flyer in the newsletter of 15 September. Members who are interested are most welcome to attend, and you are also invited to bring along a friend, neighbour or family member who may also be interested in hearing about this program. Light refreshments will be provided.
Two further sessions which should be of interest to many of us will follow:
Thursday 19 October 10am to 12pm
Tuesday 31 October 10am to 12pm
More information on these closer to the time.
SENIORS EXPO
On Thursday last week Woden Seniors, along with Tuggeranong 55 Plus and Canberra Seniors Clubs, were represented at the Seniors Expo held at EPIC. The Expo is very well organised and presented, and our stall had a constant stream of visitors throughout the day. A great opportunity to talk to people about what we do at the Club, and to give out LOTS of advance publicity for the 2024 Big Book Fair!
AND COMING UP – TULIP TOP EXCURSION
And yes.. it’s still possible to be part of the excursion to Tulip Top on Wednesday next week, 4 October. Cost is $130 per person which includes coach travel, entrance to Tulip Top and a light lunch.
If you would like to come along, please contact Polly on TUESDAY.
