Christmas Luncheon Party – 12.30pm Monday 7 December

The Christmas Luncheon Party is on Monday 7 December 2015, at 12.30pm, catering is by the Olive restaurant and the Chordsmen are tuning up a new repertoire of songs.

Cost is $50 per person, please book and pay at the front counter. Let Polly know if you want to be seated with anyone in particular.

Club Closing Times for the Festive Season

The Club will close at 4pm on Wednesday 23 December 2015 and reopen on Monday 11 January 2016. Activity groups can continue to use the Club through this period by arrangement with the front office.

The 3rd Big Book Fair – August 2016

Yes it is on again! Margaret Bourke, who has led this very successful event for the past two years is taking a break and Management Committee Member, Sue Schriener has stepped up to lead the event this year.

Sue is looking for volunteers to help with the sorting, cleaning and pricing of books as they come into the Club. It is envisaged that that this activity would take place most mornings during the week in the veranda area. If you have a few hours to spare, regularly or occassionally and want to drop in to help out, and have a cuppa and a chat please let Polly know.

Live in a Retirement Village or Thinking of it?

On Thursday 3 December 2015 from 2pm to 4pm at the Hughes Community Centre you’re cordially invited to share afternoon tea with COTA ACT and the Retirement Villages Review Team to talk about the review of the Retirement Villages Act 2012!

It’s this Act that governs what retirement villages can and can’t do and what your rights and responsibilities are as a resident. The current Act has been in effect for three years, and is now being reviewed to see if it’s working well.

COTA ACT will be hosting the event, with officers from the Review Team present to listen to the issues, take notes and respond to questions. If you’re attending, please rsvp to lconiston.

The Abuse Prevention Referral and Information Line (APRIL) is a confidential telephone service for callers who want to discuss elder abuse issues and seek advice, options, and referral.

The service operates during business hours. The APRIL number is 02 6205 3535.
