A RAFFLE FUND-RAISER

.

Members will have noticed the really nice new look in the foyer featuring the new (donated) chairs.  Thanks to Gemma Willson (flowers) and Susie James (wrought iron and glass coffee table) for their donations adding to the new look!

.

We would love to dispose of the three remaining heavy, grubby, old bucket chairs and in order to raise some funds to purchase replacements we are asking you to help by selling some raffle tickets.

.

.

The fabulous hand-made quilt above was made by Lisa Hart and has been donated by Wendy Saclier from Canberra Quilters and is first prize.  The well-grown and healthy gardenia donated by Mary Donahue is second prize and the crochet pot cover kit donated by Brenda Cummings is third.  Tickets are $1.00 each and we invite members to pick up one or more books of six tickets from Polly to sell to friends, neighbours, relatives… even to yourself!

.

And just saying…. a Club voucher will buy you a book of tickets….

A few new favourites…

.

Mylanta and nose drops and needles for knitting

Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings

Bundles of magazines tied up with string

These are a few of my favourite things.

.

Contacts and cataracts, hearing aids, glasses

Polident, Fixadent and false teeth in glasses

Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings

These are a few of my favourite things.

.

When the pipes leak

When the bones creak

When the knees go bad

I simply remember my favourite things

And then I don’t feel so bad.

.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions

No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions

Bathrobes and head pads and hot meals they bring

These are a few of my favourite things.

.

Back pains, confused brains and no fear of sinning

Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinning

And we won’t mention our short shrunken frames

When we remember our favourite things.

.

When the joints ache

When the hips break

When the eyes grow dim

Then I remember the great life I’ve had

And then I don’t feel so bad…….
