THE BOOK FAIR IS NOW!

As this edition of the Fortnightly News goes to press, the 2026 Book Fair is under way.

.

The past couple of weeks have seen an increase in the pace of preparations and on Thursday the Club was transformed into a giant bookshop.  So it was out with the usual state of things, and thanks to all the movers and shifters the halls, the foyer, the sitting room, the meeting room and the back verandah are full of books, paintings, hand-made cards DVDs and CDs.  There is an enormous range of fiction and non-fiction books, books for children and for young adults…. and this year, a café with tea, coffee and an amazing range of yummy food for our customers and for our volunteers to enjoy.

Don’t miss the chance to stock up on reading and watching matter – and as if $3.00 is not cheap enough for an as-new book, Sunday’s 2-4pm Happy Hour offers even better value!

.

TREE WORKS….

.

Just as an aside to the Book Fair, this week the dead tree beside our entry carpark was removed, as was an overhanging branch on another tree.  A safer space now.  Thanks for the photos Ron.

Some helpful sayings to keep you feeling young….

.

There are three signs of old age –

1.Loss of memory
2.I forget the other two.

.

At my age I don’t mind if my mind starts to wander, just as long as it comes back again.

.

If you’re old enough to know better, you’re too old to do it.

..and..

.

All the things I really like to do are either immoral, illegal or fattening.
