COTA PRESENTATION

This is the third of three information sessions for Club members presented by COTA.  These sessions have proved to be extremely informative and this one, on understanding Aged Care packages and making decisions around housing options including retirement villages and staying in your own home, promises to be a source of some useful knowledge.  All welcome in Hall 1 on Tuesday 31 October, 10.30am.

If you missed last week’s session on staying safer online, see the flyer below regarding individual one-on-one help offered by COTA at their Hughes Community Centre offices, 2 Wisdom Street in Hughes.

MELBOURNE CUP AFTERNOON TEA

On the first Tuesday in November…. we all know what happens.  Join us for afternoon tea at the Club on Tuesday 7th November, from 1.30pm.  There will be sweeps and of course the big TV to watch the race.  It will help to know how many people will come along, so please give Polly your name if you are planning to join in.  Afternoon tea will be courtesy of you – i.e. please bring a plate!!

.

AND OF COURSE – CHRISTMAS LUNCH

FRIDAY 15 DECEMBER

Yes, I know it’s only October…. but December will be here in no time.  Last year’s Christmas lunch was a great success and this year is planned for more of the same.  We will use the same catering again from Ainslie IGA, their selection of cold meats and salads was very ample and delicious.  Thanks to everyone enjoying the soup offerings during the winter months, we able to offer the Christmas lunch for the very low cost of an activity voucher – what a bargain!

Again, we will need you to advise Polly that you are planning to attend – cut-off time for booking in is Monday 11 December.

.

CHRISTMAS HAMPER PRIZES

To add some extra Christmas cheer to the occasion, we will offer lucky door prizes in the form of Christmas hampers to some lucky attendees.  To make this possible, we are asking members to donate non-perishable Christmassy foods and other items to fill these hampers.  The more the merrier!!  There will be boxes in the foyer to receive your items.

Things to think about

1.  Don’t worry about what people think, they don’t do it very often.
2.  Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
3.  If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you’ve never tried before.
4.  An excellent approach to housework is to sweep the room with a glance..
5.  Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.
6. A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.
7.  For every action, there is an equal and opposite government program.
8. If you look like your passport picture, you probably need the trip.
9. A conscience is what hurts when all of your other parts feel so good.
10. No man has ever been shot while doing the dishes.
