WHO KNOWS HOW TO HAVE A CHRISTMAS PARTY?

WE DO !!!

Close to 100 people (approaching one quarter of the Club’s membership!) attended a really enjoyable Christmas lunch on Friday 15th.  The food, the company, the singing, the hampers… the vibe!!!  I’m pretty sure we haven’t had so many people in the building since before COVID, and it was quite simply a blast.  Lots of photos below to prove the point.

.

A couple of special moments – our Polly received a special gift of $$$s from members of the various activity groups at the Club which was accompanied by a memory book with messages from the people who contributed to the gift.  The gift and the messages were a testament to the high regard in which she is held by all of us.

.

At the Club AGM in September, mementos of appreciation for our Life Members were presented. Ann Murray was not able to attend at that time, so we took the opportunity to present her memento at the Christmas lunch.

Thank you everyone who contributed to the hampers, to Polly’s gift, to the preparations including setting up, cleaning up, entertaining, the Christmas tree, and to everyone who attended the party and made it what will certainly remain as a very special memory for me and I hope for everyone who attended.

.

NEXT YEAR – A NEW ACTIVITY GROUP

Beginning on Monday 15 January, Ann Roberts will lead a group for people interested in learning line dancing.  This will suit people wanting to start from scratch or to refresh old memories under Ann’s expert teaching and guidance.  The weekly sessions will be held on Mondays from 1.00 to 2.30pm in Hall 2.  Bring along your best smile and dancing feet – it’s worth taking part just for the music!!  As this will be a teaching group, people will be welcome to join in and start at any time.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

The final newsletter for the year and it just remains for me to wish our members, families, friends and supporters a safe and happy Christmas, and a year of good health and prosperity in 2024.

Thank you to Lutana for this – I think we can all relate.

The Twelve Days of Christmas

.

On the first day of Christmas, my true love said to me

“I’ve bought a big fresh turkey and a proper Christmas tree!”

On the second day of Christmas much laughter could be heard

As we tucked into our turkey – a most delicious bird!

.

On the third day of Christmas came the people from next door;

The turkey tasted just as good as it had the day before.

On the fourth day of Christmas, some wine and cheese we had;

We were bright and happy, and the turkey?  A little sad.

.

On the fifth day of Christmas, outside the snowflakes scurried

But we were nice and warm inside and we had the turkey curried.

On the sixth day of Christmas, the Christmas spirit died;

The children fought and bickered – we had the turkey fried.

.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love he did wince

When he sat at the table and was offered turkey mince.

On the eighth day of Christmas, the dog had run for shelter –

He saw our turkey pancakes and the glass of Alka-Seltzer!

.

On the ninth day of Christmas, by lunchtime Dad was blotto

As he knew the bird was back again, this time as a risotto!

On the tenth day of Christmas, we were drinking home-made brew;

As if that wasn’t bad enough, we were served turkey stew.

.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, the Christmas tree was moulting,

And even with chilli and oyster sauce, the turkey was revolting!

On the twelfth day of Christmas, we had smiles upon our lips –

The guests had gone, the turkey too, so we dined on Fish and Chips!!
