Dates to Remember
Monday 23 December to Friday 10 January – Club will be closed for the Christmas break.
Monday 13 January – Club re-opens for 2025.
Monday 27 January – Australia Public Holiday. Club will be closed.
With this last Newsletter for 2024, I would like to wish all members,
their families and loved ones, a safe and peaceful Christmas and good health and prosperity in 2025.
CHRISTMAS BREAK
As is usual, the Club will close for a period over the Christmas/New Year weeks, as per the dates above. Not all activities are set to recommence on the 13th, your group’s leaders and co-ordinators will have advised you if this is the case.
CHRISTMAS LUNCH
It was crowded, it was cheap, it was loud – it was Woden Seniors’ 2024 Christmas Lunch. I can only hope that all those in attendance enjoyed our lunch as much as I did… and anecdotal evidence says that this was indeed the case.
I have a long list of thank you’s to the people who made it all happen. The many hands who made light work – made soup all through winter to subsidise the cost, ordered, delivered and arranged the food, lifted and shifted tables and chairs, provided the wonderful table decorations, organised the parking, decorated the Christmas tree, donated an amazing array of items for the hampers, organised the winning of the hampers, entertained us, cleaned up, re-stacked furniture, and filled take-away containers afterwards – and came along to have lunch and join in the fun.
The food was delicious, the pop-up choristers and the line dancers added that special touch to the occasion and were very favourably received, and special thanks go to everyone who contributed to Polly’s Christmas card and its contents.
As our 2024 Club year comes to a close, I would like to acknowledge and thank all the activity leaders and co-ordinators who keep everything humming along in the halls, the verandahs and the Anne Murray Room, the Committee and sub-Committee members who see to it that everything required to keep the Club operating successfully is attended to and of course, the one person who is the daily happy welcoming presence and the real powerhouse behind our very successful operation – our Polly.
Please take care on the roads, stay healthy and happy and join me in looking forward to 2025 and some new and interesting activities which are in the offing.
