SOME TIDYING UP
A little bit of paint and some elbow grease and the brick corner between the kitchen and verandah is looking like new again! We are in the process of looking for a suitable replacement cupboard/bench/dresser to store plates and bowls.
The old fluoro lights in the verandah which gave such poor and often flickering light have been replaced with nice new LEDs which will make for a much more comfortable workspace.
And speaking of tidying up, below is a photo of a VERY nice chair tidying up job – thanks John!!
For ease of use and for the safety of everyone in the area, it would be wonderful if we all took care to stack the chairs neatly – black armchairs, armless, and aluminium separately and NO MORE than five high.
THE WASHING UP
It has not gone unnoticed that the number of unwashed cups, plates and spoons and glasses just left for others to deal with has reduced markedly in recent weeks. Thanks to everyone for your co-operation in this, the benefits being in Club amenity and our health.
SOUP DAYS ARE COMING
Although it doesn’t feel much like it just yet, the cooler weather is coming and that means soup lunches.
Everyone who is at the Club on Mondays will know that we make and serve soup to eat with friends and fellow club members and for those who would like to do so, to take home.
For the most part, Sue Allen and I have made the soups and as we know, they were part of the success story that was our 2023 Christmas Lunch. We would really like to share the fun and invite anyone else who would like to help to do so.
If you would be willing to make a soup – once or twice? occasionally? once a month? please let Sue or me know and we can talk to about what, how and when. We are thinking of starting up in the last week of May and finishing in the first week of September.
To date we have done soup on Mondays but would really like to add at least one other day – which could be weekly as we are doing, or maybe monthly, or perhaps even just once or twice over the winter period. It would be marvellous if there is anyone who would like to organise this and of course Sue and I will be happy to help get it started. All my contact info as below!

Ron Stewart again…..
All my life, I thought air was free until I bought a bag of chips.
Some days, I amaze myself.
Other days, I look for my phone while I’m talking on it.
Life always offers you a second chance.
It’s called tomorrow.
It takes real skill to:
Choke on air
Fall up stairs
Trip over completely nothing
I have those skills
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid
Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad
