DATES TO REMEMBER

Monday 11 March – Canberra Day Public Holiday.  Club will be closed.

Friday 29 March – Good Friday Public Holiday.  Club will be closed.

Monday 1 April – Easter Monday Public Holiday. Club will be closed.

Friday 5, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April  – our 2024 Book Fair

.A little bit of trivia – there are TEN public holidays in the first six months of 2024 and ONE in the second six months.

.BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair is fast approaching, and we are making final arrangements.

Because the container is full it has been decided to close off the receipt of donations a week earlier than previously planned. Donations will not be accepted after Friday  8 March.

We need lots of volunteers to help with setting up on Thursday 4 April from12 noon and packing up on Sunday 7 April at 4 pm. Sign up sheets are at the front counter so please consider putting your name down.

It is time to work hard on the publicity. There are plenty of posters and bookmarks available for circulation. Please see what you can do to distribute these. Posters can be placed in shop windows, on noticeboards and poster silos and at libraries or anywhere else you think suitable. Bookmarks are great for letter boxes and to give to group members or to leave in workplaces. So, let’s get the message out for a bumper Book Fair!

The banner will go up again when we are ready to receive donations for the 2025 Book Fair- and the way time flies that will be here in no time!

UPGRADE OF THE CLUB’S SOUND SYSTEM

We have been successful in our application for an ACT Government Grant to be used to replace the sound equipment in Hall 1 with a new professionally designed and installed system.  New speakers, media player, lapel mike, mixer amp – and will include an integrated screen for visual presentations, all connected via Bluetooth.

Many thanks to Judy Henderson whose expertise in the area is responsible for the Club’s continuing to receive such grants.

And you can blame Ron Stewart for these…..

Someone just called me normal.  I have never been so insulted in my entire life.

Laughing is the best medicine, but if you are laughing for no reason, you may need medicine.

Don’t judge me, I was born to be awesome.  Not perfect.

The amazing moment when you hear a song you haven’t heard in years and you still remember every word.

Did you notice that when you blow in a dog’s face, they get mad at you.  But when you take them in the car, they stick their head out of the window.

I have a condition that prevents me from going on a diet………I get hungry

My Saturday was going really well.   Until I realised it was Sunday.

Starting tomorrow, whatever life throws at me, I’m ducking so it hits someone else.
