iPad Course – photos

Diana will be running this course run over two sessions from 10 am to 12 noon on Wednesday 29 May 2019 and Wednesday 5 June 2019.

It is suitable for those who can use an iPad but know very little about the camera in an iPad. The main areas to cover will be:

· Camera settings and buttons.

· Practice at taking photos.

· The Photo App and how the photos are organised.

• Creating Albums & selecting photos
• Sharing photos including emailing
• Editing photos
• Making & viewing videos
• Photo Booth & Facetime

If you would like to enrol please contact the office. There will be six places.

New Bus Timetables

We have some new bus timetables for the Woden area at the club. There are a few available to take and Polly will keep one for reference.

The new bus timetable books for each area are available from the library, you just have to ask.

iPad course – Brush up on the Mail app

Judy will be running a two session course for those who wish to learn more about the Mail App. It starts on Thursday 23 May and finishes on Thursday 30 May from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm both days. The course will cover:

· Special keyboard features

· Mail settings

· Mailboxes

· Compose, Send, CC, BCC. Forward, Reply and Reply All

· Saving Draft messages

· Sending, receiving and saving attachments (e.g photos, documents)

· Saving addresses

· Updating Contacts

· Adding a new Mailbox

iPad class – Brush up on Safari

Judy is offering a one session course on some of the more problematic features of the Safari app ie the Internet browser.

It will cover:

• Bookmarking favourite sites
• Creating folders for bookmarks
• Using tabs
• Accessing search history

It will be held on Thursday 21 March from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm.

There are six places.

Mural on the South wall of the Club

Over the next couple of weeks you may notice a lot of activity on the south wall of the Club. The ACT Government is funding the development of a mural to cover the wall and the container in an attempt to reduce the amount of graffiti on the wall.

Book Fair – volunteers needed

The Book Fair group is looking for more volunteers. One of our regular volunteers has left Canberra and some others are currently unavailable. If you have a couple of hours to spare we would love to see you. The role involves sorting, cleaning, categorising and packing books that have been donated. Volunteers take on the role they feel comfortable with. You don’t need any particular skill to clean and pack books and help will be given in sorting and categorising if you are interested in doing that. You do not have to do any lifting if that is difficult for you. Why not give it a try? Come along on a Friday morning and we will be happy to show you how it works.

The WOW Art Group

The Watercolour on Wednesday Art Group has an exhibition of members’ paintings in the foyer and the Anne Murray Room. Many of the paintings have been marked down for sale and 15% of the sale price is donated to the club.

Garden

The Club has received a grant to install 2 raised garden beds in which to plant various herbs and greens. We are planning to form a Garden Activity Group to install and maintain these self-watering beds. We also want to improve the surrounds of the club by designing & developing and planting out areas around the club. Anyone interested in being part of this please leave your name & contact with Polly & we will follow up.

Club Closing Times for the Festive Season

The Club will close at 4pm on Friday 21 December 2018 and re-open on Monday 14 January 2019. Activity groups can continue to use the Club through this period by arrangement with the front office. We wish you a happy and safe festive season.
