LUNCH AND LEARN PROGRAM
The club is pleased to announce that we have received a grant for us to offer a series of six lunch time information sessions during the winter months. Participants will be offered an information session provided by an expert in the field. followed by a nutritious lunch including roasts, pasta bakes and roast vegetables from the kitchen at IGA Ainslie.
We have two sessions booked in so far:
Our first session is set for TUESDAY 19 May. Basil from COTA will give a presentation on Understanding the Aged Care System at 11.30, followed by lunch at 12.30.
Those wishing to participate in the lunch component (25 members maximum) will need to book in advance for each occasion and there will be a small charge ie. the activity fee. Anyone may attend the information component session/s free of charge – however we would still appreciate you letting us know if you plan to attend the session but not the lunch so we know how many chairs to put out.
We have also booked the Advanced Care Planning team to provide an information session at 11.30am on TUESDAY 9 June, again with lunch at 12.30.
The other topics we are hoping to offer are as follows, but not necessarily in this order:
Driving for Aging Drivers
Downsizing
Support for Seniors from ACT Police
Navigating the Bus system with ease.
When each of these remaining sessions are finalised – expected to be either a Tuesday or a Friday in June and July – we will advertise the dates and seek RSVPs for participants for both the talk and the lunch and payment.
We are planning to have the information component for all sessions in Hall 1 with the screen available if presenters wish to use it. Lunch will be served at the tables in the verandah area. These will take place each fortnight during June and July either on a Tuesday or a Friday.
