COTA PRESENTATIONS
Last week a small group of members heard an interesting and informative presentation covering topics such as Aged Care Packages and options regarding retirement villages and residential aged care.
The information provided was general and a very good guide, but if you would like to discuss any of this with respect to your own personal situation, COTA offer free individual appointments at their Hughes Community Centre offices, 2 Wisdom Street in Hughes. They can be contacted on 6282 3777 or at www.cotaact.org.au/contact-us/
CHRISTMAS LUNCH and HAMPER PRIZES
Many thanks to the people who have been dropping in non-perishable Christmassy items to fill the hamper/s to be won at our Christmas lunch on Friday 15 December. Everyone will receive a numbered ticket on arrival and we will draw the winning numbers at intervals through the lunch. Keep up the good work!!
And the good news is that our Choir will be providing the entertainment on the day and are rehearsing a Christmas program for our enjoyment – and of course for the enjoyment of the folk at the various nursing homes they visit weekly.

(Thanks Peter Golack for this one)

THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO – hmmmm
Why are Kansas and Arkansas pronounced so differently?
Not to mention words that end in ‘ough’ – cough, bough, rough, dough, through, though….
Is it the letter ‘s’ or the letter ‘c’ that is silent in the word scent?
Why does fridge have a ‘d’ in it, but refrigerator doesn’t?
Before was was was, was was is.
The shovel was a ground-breaking invention.
So how come noses run and feet smell?
And you drink a drink, but you don’t food a food?
